Explorer 5.8.2 : error message when displaying string metric

Hi,

It's possible to define a shared memory key containing a string. And when you try to display it as a metric in explorer, it is displayed indeed. But there's also an error message displayed saying "Metric xxx value is not a number".

Would it be possible to add the possibility to set string metrics ? After all, you may want to calculate a Max of string and not necessarily a max of number. Power BI works like that if I'm not mistaken.

That's unfortunate because the string is displayed despite the error message. This error message can remain in the edition menu of the metric but it should not be displayed in the asset visible to the end users.

Thanks

We will be adding a new asset type - Label - that works similarly to Metrics, but links to text values in Shared Memory. Unlike Metrics, Labels won't have thresholds and ranges. Instead, they will have text-based rules for color-coding, such as "equals" or "contains".

The Metrics board section will support both Metrics and Labels. Like Metrics, Labels will also be real-time.
