Date Type Parameter

I really like the idea of the date picker for a Date Parameter, but it seems to be lacking a default setting to help populate it to today's date or some other calculated default. In past community comments, I saw some talk about having a 'today' button in a calendar field but the calendar in the parameter date picker does not seem to have that feature.
I did work with the example date-today.morph but I feel like does not quite fit the requirement. Using that project as the example, you can make it today's date which is great but if you choose to put in your own date via the calendar - it backs up to a date in 2020 and that would make it a challenge to set to a date in the future from today. I realize that the project could be changed to a more current date but that new hard-coded default will become stale after some time passes. Another thought would be to unlock the date field in the Overview so that a user could just manually key in a date. I might move into a regular text type parameter to get the user input.

Hi John

Thanks for the suggestion!

One thing that might help, when you are viewing the date picker, if you click on the month-year at the top it will show all months in that year instead.

Clicking on any month again shows the days in the month. If you click on the year at the top, if will show you the years to choose from and clicking one shows months again.

Makes it much easier to set dates a long way from where its currently set.

Mattf,

Thanks for the suggestion, I did not realize that functionality was there.

You are correct, it makes it much easier to use now that I know.

It's one of those 'you don't know until someone shows you' things, which there are a lot of in this life.

Thanks again,

John

Glad it helps! You certainly aren't alone in not knowing it was possible.
